WESTERN SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) held a 'Young Leadership Seminar' on Saturday 22nd October at Western Sydney’s Armenian Cultural Panoyan Centre to discuss recent developments in Armenian Genocide recognition and to make preparations for ANC Australia’s upcoming Advocacy Week activities in Canberra and Sydney.
The seminar was open to members of the Armenian Youth Federation Australia (AYF Australia) as well as the newly appointed ANC Western Sydney and ANC Northern Sydney Representatives. It provided the participants with the ideal opportunity to discuss methods and strategies of Armenian-Australian advocacy with members of the ANC Australia National Board including, Honorary Chairman Greg Soghomonian and Executive Director Varant Meguerditchian.
Soghomonian, who has been guiding the young members of ANC Australia’s National Board as Honorary Chairman since 2010, spoke about the importance and the success of the ‘Young Leadership Seminar'.
He said: “The participants paid great attention to the issues facing the Armenian-Australian community and together developed strategies to place these issues, including Armenian Genocide recognition, under the public spotlight.”
“To see so many intelligent and highly motivated young Armenian-Australians exchanging ideas concerning ANC Australia activities and formulating new techniques for relaying Armenian issues to the mainstream public was truly inspiring,” said Soghomonian.
Executive Director Meguerditchian added: “I’m very pleased by the high level of open discussion at the seminar and keenly look forward to the ANC Australia activities and projects that this group of young passionate Armenians will implement in the months and years ahead.”
“This interest amongst these young participants very much ensures the future prosperity of ANC Australia and the wider Armenian-Australian community.”
