SYDNEY/MELBOURNE: The Armenian National Committee of Australia’s 2023 Advocacy Week will climax with events in Sydney and Melbourne, which will be attended by an unprecedented number of Federal and State parliamentarians.
The night of nights, the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) Annual Gala in Sydney is to be held on the 18th of November 2023 at the prestigious Sofitel Hotel in Sydney’s Darling Harbour, and will be attended by Co-Chairs of the Armenia-Australia Inter-Parliamentary Union, Jerome Laxale MP - Federal Member for Bennelong and former Communications Minister of Australia, Paul Fletcher MP - Federal Member for Bradfield.
They will be joined by Federal parliamentary colleagues, Senators Maria Kovacic and Andrew Bragg. New South Wales parliamentarians on the guest list include Mark Buttigeg - Member for the Legislative Council, Hugh McDermott - Member for Prospect, Mark Coure - Member for Oatley, Damien Tudehope - Member for the Legislative Council, Matt Cross - Member for Davidson, Jordan Lane - Member for Ryde, Chris Rath - Member for the Legislative Council, Susan Carter - Member for the Legislative Council, Sally Quinnell - Member for the Legislative Council, Jacqui Munro - Member for the Legislative Council, Felicity Wilson - Member for New South Wales, Scott Farlow - Member for the Legislative Council and John Ruddick - Member for the Legislative Council.
For the first time, Sydney’s Armenian-Australian community will also be joined by a member of the Tasmanian Parliament, Lara Alexander MP - Independent Member for Bass, who championed the motion recognising the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek Genocides in the Tasmanian House of Assembly.
After a concerted effort to increase the community’s public affairs concerns in Victoria throughout 2023, the ANC-AU - Melbourne Branch will also host its first Advocacy Week event in over ten years on Sunday, 19th November 2023, at the Rivers Edge Event Function Centre.
The Cocktail Evening being held in Melbourne will also include several Victorian state parliamentarians, including John Mullahy MP - Member for Glen Waverley, Kim Wells MP - Member for Rowville and members from the Legislative Council Ann-Marie Hermans MP - Member for the South Eastern Metropolitan Region and Michael Galea MP - Member for the South Eastern Metropolitan Region.
ANC-AU Executive Director Michael Kolokossian said: “We are very excited to host our first event in Melbourne in over ten years. Our branch has worked closely with the ANC-AU National Office in 2023, and we are eager to showcase to the community all the work we have been up to.”
This year's events in Sydney and Melbourne will also feature an international guest, a range of entertainment and honourees from Australian public life, which will be announced shortly.
