SYDNEY: Hot new talent ‘The Pomegranates’ will be making a guest appearance at Armenian Family Day, playing traditional Armenian and modern English tunes to an anticipated audience of more than 1,000.
The band of six young Armenian-Australian musicians join crowd favourites ‘Karnig and Hovik’ in this year’s line-up of what is expected to be a day of unrivalled public entertainment starting from 11am at Ryde Oval No. 1 on Sunday 27th November 2011.
Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) Community Relations Director, Stephen Abolakian welcomed ‘The Pomegranates’, stating: “It gives us great pleasure to support this young Armenian band and provide for them the opportunity to perform in front of a large crowd.”
“We trust that the audience will be thoroughly entertained by ‘The Pomegranates’.”
Adding to the live performances onstage will be the students of the various Armenian educational institutions throughout Sydney, including Galstaun College, who will all bring their participation to this day of fun.
Armenian Family Day will also feature delicious Armenian food and drinks as well as children’s entertainment.
Chairman of ANC World Council, Hagop Der Khatchadourian, who will be in Sydney as guest for ANC Australia Advocacy Week 2011, will also participate in the day’s activities.
