SYDNEY: Several of Australia’s largest Armenian community organisations will jointly host a lecture featuring Tufenkian Foundation’s Dr. Antranig Kasbarian, who is visiting Sydney from the United States to discuss the latest from the ground in Artsakh on Thursday 25th May 2023, reported the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU).
The Armenian Relief Society of Australia (ARS-AU), Homenetmen Australia, Hamazkaine Australia, the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) and the Armenian Youth Federation of Australia (AYF-AU) have announced a public gathering will take place at 7:30pm on Thursday, 25th of May 2023, at the Willoughby Uniting Church – 10/12 Clanwilliam Street, North Willoughby.
Kasbarian, who was prominently leading Artsakh repatriation efforts on behalf of the philanthropic Tufenkian Foundation, is based in New York. He plans to discuss “Artsakh: Current Conditions, Future Directions”, as Azerbaijan’s blockade of the self-determined Armenian Republic of Artsakh continues for over 160 days.
Kasbarian holds a PhD in Geography from Rutgers University, where his doctoral work dealt with the geography of nationalism in the former USSR, focusing on Nagorno-Karabakh.
Kasbarian served as Executive Director of the Tufenkian Foundation (?????????? ?????????) from 2007 until 2016 and currently serves as a Board member and as Director of Development, supervising partnerships, fundraising, and special projects.
Karsbarian has previously visited Sydney and discussed resettlement projects in Nagorno Karabakh, particularly in the Kashatagh (Berdzor) region, prior to the occupation of Artsakh since the 2020 Artsakh war, which resulted in the ethnic cleansing of the Berdzor region. He is currently working on food security programs for the stranded Armenians of Artsakh.
