SYDNEY: Buses have been organised to transport participants to this year’s Sydney #MarchForJustice on Sunday 23 April 2023, reported the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU).

The ANC-AU reported earlier this week that over one thousand members of Sydney’s Armenian-Australian, Assyrian-Australian and Greek-Australian communities will make Sydney’s Central Business District stand up and take notice this Sunday 23rd April 2023, in a joint #MARCHFORJUSTICE calling for Federal Australian recognition of the 1915 Genocides committed by the Ottoman Empire.
The annual March For Justice will see all three communities take to the streets of Sydney in force, calling for the Prime Minister of Australia and Opposition Leader to accurately characterise the massacres of Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks as Genocide.
This year’s March For Justice participants will congregate at the iconic Hyde Park Fountain at 2:00 pm (AEST) and will march towards Sydney’s Customs House near Circular Quay, where they will conclude with a special programme.
Led by the Homenetmen Australia Scouts Marching band, the leading delegation will also include clergy, community leaders, youth groups and school students from the Armenian-Australian, Assyrian-Australian and Greek-Australian communities.
"This is the annual opportunity for our community, many of us direct descendants of survivors of the first Genocide of the 20th century, to show that our ancestors’ sacrifices were not in vain and we will continue to honour their memory," said a statement from the Organising Committee.
ANC-AU Executive Director Michael Kolokossian said, “We call on our broader community, and our Assyrian and Greek compatriots, to turn up and make their voices heard as the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition prepare statements which will be delivered on the 24th of April.”
On Monday 24th of April 2023, the Australian National Commemoration of the 108th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will reveal the positions of the leaders of both major parties on this issue.
The March for Justice is sponsored by the Joint Justice Initiative and organised by the March For Justice Organising Committee, comprising some of the largest Armenian-Australian community organisations.
