SYDNEY: A multitude of Liberal, Labor and Green MPs are confirmed to attend the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) Annual Banquet, confirming the event will be the most powerful demonstration of the organisation's amassed political capital.
Supporters of ANC Australia will be joined on November 25 by Federal politicians, Joe Hockey MP, John Alexander MP and Paul Fletcher MP, as well as NSW state parliamentarians, Minister Victor Dominello MP, Minister Gladys Berejiklian MP, Walt Secord MLC, David Shoebridge MLC, John Kaye MLC, Jonathan O’Dea MP and Andrew Rohan MP.
Councillors from the City of Willoughby and the City of Ryde will also be attending ANC Australia’s premier event, which is being held at the Chatswood Town Hall's new Concourse Reception Centre.
ANC Australia Executive Director Varant Meguerditchian said: “It is very pleasing to have our friends in the state and federal parliaments join us in solidarity at the most important event of the ANC Australia Advocacy Week 2011.”
“This reinforces our belief that the time and effort we have invested to raise awareness of issues important to Armenian-Australians amongst Australian legislators has been increasingly effective.”
The ANC Australia Annual Banquet will showcase the projects undertaken by ANC Australia throughout 2011, feature multimedia presentations, live auctions, lotteries and a forecast of the activities ANC Australia will embark upon in 2012.
During the evening, the ANC Australia Friend of the Armenian Community Award 2011 will be bestowed upon a prominent Australian public figure in recognition of his/her support for the Armenian-Australian community.
And the international guest for ANC Australia Advocacy Week 2011, ANC World Council Chairman, Hagop Der Khatchadourian, will deliver a keynote address.
