SYDNEY & MELBOURNE: In 2024, the Armenian National Committee of Australia’s premiere event, the 2024 ANC-AU Gala, will take place in Sydney on Saturday, 23rd November 2024, at the Swissôtel Sydney, and in Melbourne on Friday, 22nd November 2024, at Harbour Kitchen.
The 2024 ANC-AU Gala events will provide the peak public affairs body of the over 60,000-strong Armenian-Australian community with the opportunity to report on and celebrate the collective advocacy achievements throughout 2024.
The events in Sydney and Melbourne will unite a diverse group of supporters of the Armenian National Committee of Australia, including honourees from various sectors of Australian public life, such as politics, NGOs, media, diplomacy, and academia.
At both events, the prestigious Armenian National Committee Freedom Award, ANC-AU Armenian-Australian Community’s Friend of the Year Award and Ben Bagdikian Media Award recipients will be announced, whilst the international guest of honour will be announced closer to the date of the events.
Michael Kolokossian, Executive Director of the organisation said, “Whilst our community is still recovering from the reality of an Armenian homeland without Artsakh and the ethnic cleansing of over 150,000 of our compatriots from their homes, we as a community have a lot to be proud of, in particular our vocal opposition to Azerbaijan’s aggressive foreign policies and our ongoing advocacy and fight in defence of all things Armenian. That will never stop.”
Armenian National Committee of Australia - Melbourne Branch Member, Hovig Melkonian said, “We look forward to bringing this event to Melbourne for a second year in a row, which was a resounding success in 2023, bringing together over 120 members of our community to support the work of Hai Tad, which has led to historic achievements in our state.”
