SYDNEY: Negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group, have raised the possibility of Nagorno Karabakh being handed back to Azerbaijan. There is no doubt that Nagorno Karabakh is at a crossroads.
The Armenian Youth Federation of Australia (AYF Australia) has answered community calls by organising a Panel Discussion on this topic, featuring respected community authorities on the topic, who will answer the important questions and look ahead at the possibilities.
"There is no doubt that Nagorno Karabakh is back at the forefront of Armenians' minds in light of recent developments," AYF Australia chaiperson, Kevork Tufenkjian said.
"There is so much happening, and so quickly, that we feel such a panel discussion will help the community better understand the issues and where we are at."
The Panel Discussion, titled
'Nagorno Karabakh at a Crossroads' will take place at 7:30pm on Tuesday, 25 August at the Armenian Cultural Centre in Willoughby. Panellists will include:
- Mr. Greg Soghomonian (Political Advisor)
- Mr. Varoujan Iskenderian (Australian Representative of NKR)
- Mr. Varant Meguerditchian (President of Armenian National Committee of Australia)
- Mr. Berj Momdjian (Chairperson of ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Australia)
- Mr. Ararat Sahakian (Karabakh Independence Movement)
- Mrs. Suzy Sarafian (Chairperson of Armenian Relief Society - Australia)
Former chairperson of AYF Australia, and current Communications Officer of ANC Australia, Haig Kayserian will mediate the panel discussion.
