New York Times Bestselling Author Peter Balakian has released his latest book covering the history of the Armenian Genocide, 'Armenian Golgotha' - a memoir authored by his great-uncle Grigoris Balakian.
Peter Balakian, who has translated this book to English, previously authored 'The Burning Tigris' and 'Black Dog of Fate'. 'Armenian Golgotha' covers events following arguably the most important moment in Armenia's history, when "on the night of April 24th, 1915 in Constantinople; about 250 Armenian cultural leaders were arrested and deported to a prison".
"Among them was Grigoris Balakian, a priest and later a bishop in the Armenian Apostolic Church, an esteemed clergyman and intellectual. For the 42-year-old Balakian it was the beginning of a four-year odyssey as a prisoner, a fugitive and a witness to the Armenian genocide - all recorded for posterity in his memoir, Armenian Golgotha."
