
SYDNEY: The Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee has announced details of Australia's National Commemoration for the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, which will take place on 24 April 2025, 7:00pm at the Chatswood Concourse in Sydney.
The National Commemoration will welcome Mr Gegham Stepanyan, Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Artsakh, as the event's International Keynote Speaker. He will draw on the parallels between the Armenian Genocide and ethnic cleansing of Artsakh in 2023.
This annual event, to be held at The Chatswood Concourse in Chatswood on Thursday 24 April 2025, is attended by approximately 1,000 members of the Sydney Armenian community and supporting fellow communities, religious, political, NGO, media, diplomatic and academic leaders from across the country.
The event is organised by the Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee, under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Haigazoun Najarian, the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Armenian Catholic Church, and the Armenian Evangelical Church.
The member organisations of the Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee are the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, the Armenian Missionary Association of Australia, Hamazkaine, Nor Serount, Homenetmen, Tekeyan, Armenian Relief Society, Dkhrouni, Armenian National Committee of Australia and the Armenian Youth Federation of Australia.
Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) Executive Director, Michael Kolokossian expressed the appreciation on behalf of organisers to all volunteers making this year’s commemorative events possible.
Kolokossian said, “The 110th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide means 2025 is a milestone commemoration opportunity. We will gather to pay respects to those who came before us and to future generations. We will present with resilience, collectively through our presence and dedication to the cause for justice and ensure that the truth of our ancestors is remembered and never denied.”
