
SYDNEY: On Wednesday 2 April 2025, Leader of the Opposition in New South Wales, Mark Speakman MP and the Member for Davidson, Matt Cross MP paid a visit to Hamazkaine Arshak & Sophie Galstaun College to tour the campus grounds and recognise the 2025 College leadership team, reported the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU).
Known for its academic excellence, Hamazkaine Arshak & Sophie Galstaun College is the only bi-lingual Armenian Christian pre-kindergarten to year 12 co-educational college in the country, boasting 350 pupils.
Prior to their visit, Cross rose in New South Wales Legislative Assembly to discuss the upcoming visit and recognise the contributions of the 2025 College Leadership team stating, “I am always impressed when I visit Galstaun College, and I share their motto, 'Belong, Believe, Become'.
“I recognise the Year 12 school captains, Bianca Bozoghlian and Panos Krdanian and prefects. They show remarkable resilience and strength, qualities that will undoubtedly serve them well. I recognise Principal Mr. Edward Demirdjian, who leads a dedicated team of educators who foster a supportive learning environment. I look forward to supporting Galstaun College for many years into the future,” Cross added.
During a ‘meet and greet’ with the 2025 College leadership team, Speakman and Cross spoke about the important attributes all good leaders share, and answered a broad range of questions from the students. Following their meeting with the leadership team, Galstaun College Principal Mr Dermidjian showed the guests around the College grounds.
Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU), Michael Kolokossian who facilitated the visit said, “It was an honour to have Mark and Matt visit our ‘Little Armenia’ here in Sydney, which plays an important role in preparing the future leaders of our community and state.”
