Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key top-tier media outlets, local, metro, national and specialist media outlets and think tanks to promote Armenian-Australian interests;
Closely work with Armenian-Australian media outlets to inform about advocacy initiatives and actions;
Nurture media relationships through regular networking;
Identify, develop and execute proactive strategic media plans that promote the ANC-AU’s projects, initiatives, events, advocacy or other work;
Draft and distribute weekly briefings and press releases to the Armenian-Australian community to ensure activities are promoted;
Draft and distribute all weekly briefings and press releases to public officials and relevant media outlets;
Respond in a timely manner to all ad-hoc media enquiries and requests and manage public communications to any emerging and actual events;
Coordinate all interview opportunities, including the compilation of detailed briefing documents;
Oversee the coordination of all media events, working with relevant team members to ensure events are delivered on time and KPIs are met;
Source, write, schedule and deliver engaging storytelling and content across a range of communications and social media platforms;
Execute and implement the actions set out by the ANC-AU National Board, including but not limited to the set objectives of the organisation from a media perspective;
Implement new youth outreach initiatives developing youth engagement in Australian media;
Prepare papers, presentations and talking points for relevant stakeholders, including journalists;
Participate and attend regular ANC-AU National Board meetings;
Participate in meetings with politicians, where deemed necessary by the Executive Director; and
Assist with the organisation’s broader activities of outreach, including in the organisation and implementation of community events and programs.
Skills/Experience
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or significant experience in a relevant role;
Highly articulate with an excellent command of English and exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
Extremely well-organised with strong project management skills;
Experience using software relevant to the fulfilment of duties described;
Ability to multitask and work to multiple deadlines and competing priorities;
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships and work well within a team;
Thrives in a fast-paced work environment and is able to adapt quickly to business needs;
Self-motivated with a desire to continually learn and grow;
An understanding of Armenian-Australian issues and grassroots advocacy; and
Leadership roles or involvement in Armenian-Australian organisations.
