MELBOURNE: On Saturday 1st October 2011, Armenian National Committee of Australia Melbourne (ANC Melbourne) hosted the screening of ‘My Son Shall be Armenian’ in front of a strong community audience of 150 interested viewers.
As a means of building greater Armenian community awareness of the modern issues surrounding the Armenian Genocide, ANC Melbourne had decided to screen ‘My Son Shall be Armenian’ in the Armenian populated Melbourne suburb of Glen-Waverly.
The film, which follows the voyage of five Diasporan men and women who return to the land of his ancestors in search of Armenian Genocide survivors, appealed to the viewing audience as it explored the contemporary issues of genocide recognition, compensation and the right of return.
Addressing the gather audience after the film ANC Melbourne Representative Hovig Melkonian said: “It is particularly pleasing that so many of you have come to enjoy this film and support the activities of ANC Melbourne.”
