SYDNEY: Armenian Family Day, the largest social and public outdoor event on the Armenian community calendar, will feature live on-stage entertainment from leading Armenian-Australian musical duo Karnig & Hovik, as well as performances many of Australia’s finest young talent.
Armenian Family Day, which will this year be held on Sunday 27th November from 11am at Ryde Oval No. 1, attracted over 1,000 Armenian-Australians in 2010, is set to get bigger and better in 2011.
"The on-stage talent is one thing, but we have also organised children's entertainment like jumping castles and face-painting, as well as other surprises," said Stephen Abolakian, the Community Relations Director of the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia).
"Karnig & Hovik have entertained the Sydney Armenian community for decades, and Armenian Family Day is one of the duo's favourite gigs."
As long-time supporters of ANC Australia and the organisation's activities, Karnig & Hovig have promised to bring the stage to life while belting out tunes ranging from Armenian folk, to modern Armenian pop and to patriotic anthems.
Abolakian added: "Over the past four years, this annual event has been building in size and support.”
“We are excited that Karnig and Hovik will be leading the entertainment and are looking forward to making this the biggest on Armenian Family Day our community has ever seen."
Chairman of ANC World Council, Hagop Der Khatchadourian, in Sydney as ANC Australia's international guest of honour for Advocacy Week, will bring his participation to Armenian Family Day 2011.
