SYDNEY: ANC Australia's Armenian Family Day on Sunday 21 November will feature on-stage entertainment from leading Armenian-Australian musical duo Karnig & Hovik, as well as from up-and-coming talent Ohaness Ohanessian and his band.
Armenian Family Day, to be held from 11am at Ryde No. 3, attracted over 500 members of the Armenian community in 2009, and is set to get bigger in 2010, with entertainment a key focus for the organising committee.
"The on-stage talent is one thing, but we have also organised children's entertainment like jumping castles and face-painting, as well as other surprises," said Stephen Abolakian, the Community Relations Officer of the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia).
Karnig & Hovik, previously of Arax Band, have entertained the Sydney Armenian community for decades, and Armenian Family Day is one of the duo's favourite gigs, as they are long-time supporters of ANC Australia and the organisation's activities.
Ohaness Ohanessian is a young singer with great talent and great passion for Armenian music. His appearance at next month's event, with his newly-formed band, will be his first at Armenian Family Day.
Abolakian added: "We are excited that these acts have confirmed their attendance, and we look forward to making this the biggest ANC Australia Day ever held."
Chairman of ANC America, Ken Hachikian,
in Sydney as ANC Australia's international guest of honour for Advocacy Week, will bring his participation to Armenian Family Day.
