Journalist Lindsey Snell to Headline Armenian National Committee of Australia Advocacy Week
Sunday, 12 November 2023
SYDNEY/MELBOURNE/CANBERRA: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) has announced that renowned journalist, Lindsey Snell will be visiting from Germany to headline the organisation's 2023 Advocacy Week this November.
Snell is an American journalist who has featured on major networks including MSNBC, having made her name covering wars in the Middle East and North Africa. It was during coverage of one of these conflicts in 2016, when Snell was kidnapped by Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda's former affiliate in Syria.
Her interest in complicated wars led to her becoming the foremost journalist covering the Nagorno Karabakh conflict since the 2020 war waged by petro-dictatorship Azerbaijan, that led to the regime's ethnic cleansing of the Armenian Republic of Artsakh.
ANC-AU Advocacy Week will run from 14-19 November 2023, and will include the highly anticipated Youth Advocates program, featuring a dozen young Armenian-Australians travelling to Canberra for advocacy workshops as well as meetings with parliamentarians and journalists. The week's activities will crescendo with events in Sydney and Melbourne.
The ANC-AU Annual Gala in Sydney is scheduled to take place on 18 November 2023, from 6:30pm at the Sofitel Darling Harbour, where Snell will deliver the keynote address as the event's International Guest of Honour.
Munich-based Snell will also make an appearance to deliver the keynote at the ANC-AU Melbourne Cocktail event, scheduled to take place at the Rivers Edge Event Function Centre on Sunday, 19 November 2023, from 5:00pm.
"We are delighted that Lindsey Snell will be travelling to Australia as our organisation's international guest of honour for this year's Armenian National Committee of Australia Advocacy Week to bring further attention to Azerbaijan’s aggression against the two Armenian republics,” said Armenian National Committee of Australia Executive Director, Michael Kolokossian.
