AUSTRALIA: The Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Mr Gegham Stepanyan will keynote the National Commemoration of the 110th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Sydney on Thursday 24 April 2025 7:00pm at the Chatswood Concourse, reported the Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee.
During his visit, Mr Stepanyan will also address the Armenian Genocide Commemoration in Melbourne on 23 April 2025 7:00pm at the Drum Theatre in Dandenong, and the Armenian Genocide Commemoration in Western Sydney on Monday 28 April 2025 7:00pm at the Armenian Cultural Panoyan Centre.
In addition to commemorative events marking the Armenian Genocide, Mr Stepanyan is scheduled to participate in several high-level meetings with the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade and Australian elected officials, facilitated by the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU).
Mr Gegham Stepanyan is visiting Australia in his capacity as the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, a position he has held since March 2021. Defending human rights during the Artsakh blockade and ethnic cleansing, Mr Stepanyan has prepared and submitted over two dozen reports to the international community, documenting Azerbaijan's purported criminal policy.
Currently based in Yerevan, he continues to raise awareness and advocate for the rights of people forcibly displaced from Artsakh, and since June 2024, he has served as an independent national expert for UNDP Armenia.
