SYDNEY: In a show of grassroots community support, more than 200 Armenians packed into Hoyts Westfield Chatswood Cinemas last week for the Armenian National Committee of Australia’s (ANC Australia) screening of ‘Western Armenia: Lost Motherland’.
The latest instalment in the ANC Australia film series, ‘Western Armenia: Lost Motherland’ was received well by the viewing audience as they witnessed Armenian fortresses, monasteries, churches and bridges as well as the colourful peculiarities of the cities lost during the Armenian Genocide.
The historic Armenian cities of Kars, Ani, Van, Mush, Karin, Bitlis, Erzerum and Ararat were just some of the places explored in the documentary film.
ANC Australia Executive Director Varant Meguerditchian told the gathered: “It is pleasing to see so many Armenian-Australians gathered for the screening.”
“This film reminds us that the struggle for recognition of the Armenian Genocide, is not an annual proposition rising every April 24, but rather a just objective that requires relentless persistence.”
