AUSTRALIA: In the lead-up to the 109th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, honouring the systematic massacres against 1.5 million Armenians and over 1 million Assyrians and Greeks, the Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee's have announced events in five different cities across Australia.
Dr Khatchig Mouradian from the United States of America, a lecturer in Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies at Columbia University in New York, and the author of the award-winning book ‘The Resistance Network’ is scheduled to Keynote the Commemorations in Melbourne, Sydney and Western Sydney.
Perth: The Armenian-Australian community living in Perth will be the first to host their commemoration, taking place on Sunday 21st April 2024, at the Subiaco Fallen Soldier’s Memorial, commencing at 2:30pm.
Melbourne: The Armenian-Australian community living in Melbourne will host their commemoration on the eve of the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, Tuesday, 23rd April 2024, at the Rowville Performing Arts Centre, commencing at 7:00pm.
Sydney: The Armenian-Australian community living in Sydney will host the National Armenian Genocide commemoration on Wednesday, 24th April 2024, at The Concourse Chatswood starting at 7:00pm.
Western Sydney: The Armenian-Australian community living in Sydney’s Western suburbs will host their commemoration on Friday, 26th April 2024, at the Armenian Cultural Panoyan Centre, commencing at 7:30pm.
Canberra: The Armenian-Australian community living in the nation’s capital will host a joint commemoration with Greek-Australians on Monday, 13th May 2024, at the ACT Legislative Assembly commencing at 6:30pm. The Keynote Address for this event will be delivered by Dr Deborah Mayersen.

The events are organised by the Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee in each region and held under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Haigazoun Najarian, the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Armenian Catholic Church and the Armenian Evangelical Church.
