SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) has appointed Roupen Sevagian as ANC Australia Northern Sydney Representative in what is the organisation's third regional appointment this year.
ANC Australia Executive Director Varant Meguerditchian and Community Relations Director Stephen Abolakian recently met with the former AYF Australia Executive member and planned the development of ANC Australia activities at the local council level in the northern suburbs of Sydney.
Sevagian's role will see him organise and guide a dedicated group of volunteers who will assist the ANC Australia National Board with the hosting of functions and events, while also assisting sister organisations which are located in Sydney’s North Shore with local government relations.
Sevagian said he was excited by the prospect of increasing activity at the local council level in Sydney’s North.
“We will immediately begin meeting with local councillors with a view to constructing a solid relationship and increasing Armenian involvement in local council initiatives," he said.
"We will also provide support to ANC Australia as they host community events in our region."
ANC Australia’s appointment of Sevagian as Northern Sydney Representative follows the recent appointments of representatives in Sydney’s West and also in Melbourne, Victoria.
Â
Abolakian welcomed Sevagian to ANC Australia, stating: "In Sevagian, we have a true representative of the young dedicated Armenian-Australians who are willing to support the activities of ANC Australia.â€
"Sevagian is a welcome addition to our team."
