SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) invites all un-enrolled Armenian-Australians over 17 years of age to enrol for voting by completing the online enrolment form via the Australian Electoral Commission.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd called Australia's General Election for September 7, 2013 and all un-enrolled citizens need to have enrolled by 8pm on Monday 12 August 2013.
ANC Australia’s Executive Director Vache Kahramanian remarked: “We are fortunate to live in a country whereby each individuals voice counts on election day. It is important for Armenian-Australians to be registered on the electoral roll to make their voice count in the Australian political system. Not to mention, it is illegal not to vote if you are of voting age.”
ANC Australia will be working with Armenian community organisations to ensure an active enrolment drive by young Armenian-Australians, and in due course will be meeting with candidates in Armenian-populated seats prior to the election.
