SYDNEY: An Armenian National Committee of Australia delegation met with the NSW Police Local Area Command last week to address certain issues of concern to the Armenian-Australian community and reinforce the already strong relationship between the community and the Police Force.
Discussions at the meeting focused on Armenian community integration into the wider Australian community, community access to the NSW Police Department through the Crime Stoppers Hotline, and opportunities for NSW Police to address the community in relation to safety and crime prevention.
“The purpose of our meeting was to increase community transparency and create a means of direct access to departments within the NSW Police Force,†said ANC Australia President, Mr. Varant Meguerditchian. “Our community is primarily regarded as well-integrated and cooperative, and our recent meeting reaffirms our commitment to work closely with the NSW Police Force in addressing community concerns.â€
An open address to the Armenian community will be held at the Armenian Cultural Centre (259 Penshurst Street Willoughby), where all members of the Armenian-Australian community will be welcome to attend and ask questions in relation to any specific concerns. Details for this event will be released in the upcoming issue of ‘Armenia Weekly’.
All NSW residents are encouraged to provide information to the Crime Stoppers Hotline by calling 1800 333 000 with information relating to wanted people, unsolved crimes and people they know have committed criminal offences but have not been arrested.
