SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) has announced a new structure with a staffed office in Sydney set to cater for the public affairs needs of the Armenian-Australian community from Monday, 3rd of May.
Varant Meguerditchian, formerly President of the national board, takes on the role of Executive Director, while Aram Tufenkjian, a board member of the Armenian Youth Federation of Australia, will be ANC Australia's Office Administrator.
Respected community leader Greg Soghomonian joins the ANC Australia national board as Honorary Chairperson.
"The professionalisation of ANC Australia was a natural next step after the recent years of success registered by the organisation, and I am delighted to be a part of it," Soghomonian said. "The board and our staff are in place and we look forward to serving the community's public affairs needs."
Meguerditchian and Tufenkjian will work out of ANC Australia's ground floor office at the Armenian Cultural Centre (259 Penshurst St Willoughby), and their responsibilities will include political relations, community relations, media relations and governance.
Meguerditchian said: "We are excited by this very important advancement and would like to thank our sponsors for making it possible."
He added: "Our door is open and we look forward to looking after the public affairs needs of the entire Armenian-Australian community."
