SYDNEY: Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) Executive Director Varant Meguerditchian delivered an Armenian Genocide presentation at the Hamazkaine Galstaun College in front of 250 students, representing the classes from Kindergarten to Year 12.
Meguerditchian delivered two addresses, firstly speaking briefly about the history of the Armenian Genocide to the full student body, then specifically to the high school students in a separate presentation where he utilised audiovisual material to describe the modern issues surrounding the Armenian Genocide.
In his presentation to seniors, Meguerditchian discussed the Armenian Genocide by outlining the history of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian Relief Fund of Australia, the Turkish denial of the Armenian Genocide, and the struggle for universal recognition of this crime against humanity.
Â
Meguerditchian underscored that it was important for young Armenian-Australians to raise awareness of genocide.
He said: "As descendents of survivors of the Armenian Genocide, we have a moral obligation to raise awareness of the Armenian Genocide as a measure designed to prevent similar crimes against humanity in the future."
The Armenian Genocide presentation delivered on Wednesday 27th April by Meguerditchian at Galstaun College is part of program undertaken by ANC Australia to educate young Armenian-Australians about the Armenian Genocide, and to encourage them to become more involved with the activities of ANC Australia.
