WASHINGTON DC: Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) Communications Director Haig Kayserian delivered a presentation titled ‘Armenian Advocacy 2.0 - increasing our social footprint’ at the Armenian National Committee of America’s (ANCA) Armenian Cause 2.0 national leadership conference last week.
The event was sold out, with attendees comprised of veteran and youth activists who gathered in Washington DC to explore the future of social networks, grassroots power, and smart advocacy for the Armenian Cause.
An expert on web marketing and social media, Kayserian defined Web 2.0 as "the era of the web that made the primary producer of internet content the 'user' instead of the 'establishments'".
He explained that this presented a great opportunity for advocacy, and that while many Armenian organisations were taking up a social media presence, they have not yet realised the true potential of the social footprint of the Armenian Cause.
“If everybody who 'liked' the ANCA Facebook page and followed ANCA on Twitter took the next step and 'liked', 'commented' or 'retweeted' ANCA-produced content, the social footprint of our cause would expand exponentially,†he said.
“The number of ANCA Facebook likes and Twitter followers would be multiplied and thus provide a truer reflection of the ANCA’s total support.â€
Kayserian suggested that ANCA’s Cause 2.0 was an important initiative, concluding: “It was an honour and pleasure to be invited to this event and I look forward to replicating the conference in Australia one day.â€
