WESTERN SYDNEY: In an overwhelming demonstration of grassroots support, the Armenian National Committee of Australia Western Sydney (ANC Australia Western Sydney) held the screening of ‘My Son Shall be Armenian’ in front of a packed audience of 150 inside the Panoyan Armenian Cultural Centre in Bonnyrigg.
As a means of building greater community awareness of the modern issues surrounding the Armenian Genocide, ANC Australia had decided to screen the Hagop Goudsouzian film ‘My Son Shall be Armenian’ as its first public event in the region.
The film, which follows the voyage of five Diasporan men and women who return to the land of his ancestors in search of Armenian Genocide survivors, appealed to the viewing audience as it explored the contemporary issues of genocide recognition, compensation and the right of return.
Addressing the gather audience after the film ANC Australia Western Sydney representative Garbis Kolokossian said: “It is particularly pleasing that so many of you have come to enjoy this film and support the activities of ANC Australia Western Sydney.â€
“We thank you for attending today and welcome you, our constituent supporters, to approach us at anytime with any issues you may have regarding our community in this region.â€
