SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia will support Australian participation in the Tufenkian Foundation’s Kashatagh resettlement effort, it announced before 200 community guests at an Information Evening featuring Dr. Antranig Kasbarian in Sydney last week.
Dr. Kasbarian, the Tufenkian Foundation’s Director of Development, addressed the Armenian-Australian community on his week-long trip from New York. He explained the importance of the Foundation’s projects, which are designed to rebuild and resettle Nagorno-Karabakh’s strategic border-zones where its native Armenian inhabitants remain vulnerable since waging a self-determination struggle against Azerbaijani occupation.
Kashatagh (formerly referred to as Lachin) is a region of particular importance as it houses the corridor that links Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia.
"Kashatagh is the landbridge between Armenia and Karabakh," said Dr. Kasbarian. "Its repopulation and prosperity serves as a measure of security for southern Armenia."
ANC Australia President, Mr. Varant Meguerditchian praised the efforts of the Tufenkian Foundation and committed to driving community support for Kashatagh.
