SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia has officially congratulated elected New South Wales Members of Parliament in Armenian-populated electorates.
The ANC Australia’s pre-election activities included meetings with candidates in established Armenian-Australian seats, where local and community issues were discussed.
Jonathan O’Dea (LIB-Davidson) and Rob Stokes (LIB-Pittwater) have been welcomed into Parliament by winning seats previously held by Andrew Humpherson (LIB) and Alex McTaggart (IND) respectively, while Joe Tripodi (ALP-Fairfield), John Watkins (ALP-Ryde), Anthony Roberts (LIB-Land Cove) and Gladys Berejiklian (LIB-Willoughby) retained their seats.
With the largest swing in NSW electoral history, Berejiklian celebrated her victory with friends at the Armenian Cultural Centre in Willoughby.
“We congratulate all elected Members and look forward to working with them in the coming term to advance the concerns of the Armenian-Australian community in New South Wales,†said ANC Australia President, Mr. Varant Meguerditchian.
“Our meetings ahead of the election yielded positive results; with Members committing to work with the ANC in reaching satisfactory resolutions on the key issues concerning our community.â€
