CANBERRA/SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) has welcomed the appointment of several parliamentary friends, who have been promoted to new positions in the Government and Opposition in both the Australian Federal Parliament and the Parliament of New South Wales.
Following the resignation of several high-level Labor parliamentarians, on the 28th of July 2024, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced a shake-up to his cabinet, which included promotions for friends including Peter Khalil MP, Andrew Charlton MP and Julian Hill MP.
The Armenian National Committee of Australia wrote to congratulate The Hon. Julian Hill MP - Member for Bruce, who was named the new Assistant Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, Peter Khalil MP - Member for Wills, who takes on the role of Special Envoy for Social Cohesion, and Dr Andrew Charlton MP - Member for Parramatta, who has been appointed as Special Envoy for Cyber Security and Digital Resilience.
Over the last week, the peak public affairs body of the Armenian-Australian community also wrote to members of the NSW Liberal Party following several changes made by NSW Opposition Leader Mark Speakman in late July 2024 to the Shadow Cabinet.
ANC-AU Executive Director Michael Kolokossian has penned letters congratulating Tim James MP - Member for Willoughby, who is the new Shadow Minister for Small Business, The Hon. Jacqui Munro MLC - Member of the NSW Legislative Council, who is the new Shadow Assistant Minister for the Arts, Innovation, Digital Government, and the 24-Hour Economy, The Hon. Chris Rath MLC - Member of the NSW Legislative Council, who is the new Shadow Special Minister of State and James Griffin MP - Member for Manly, who has been appointed as the Shadow Minister for Energy, Climate Change, and Digital Government Cohesion.
