UPDATE - EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS
We are sad to report, that due to the Coronavirus and associated bans on public gatherings, our joint event with the Armenian Missionary Association of Australia, featuring Rakel Dink has been cancelled.[ORIGINAL REPORT, BEFORE CANCELLATION, IS BELOW]SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) has joined with the Armenian Missionary Association of Australia (AMAA) to organise a Cultural Night in Sydney, featuring a keynote address by visiting Turkey-based advocate for human rights, Mrs. Rakel Dink.
Rakel Dink heads the Hrant Dink Foundation. She is the wife of the late Hrant Dink, a Turkish-Armenian journalist and human rights activist who was assassinated by Turkish nationalists in 2007.
"The Sydney Armenian community is very fortunate to have Mrs. Rakel Dink visiting our shores, and this unique opportunity to share an audience with her is one we are grateful to be able to provide, along with the Armenian Missionary Association of Australia," said ANC-AU Executive Director, Haig Kayserian.
The event, which will take place on Friday 20th March 2020 at the Glen Street Theatre in Belrose, will also feature music, dance and recitals led by prominent Armenian-Australian talent and organisations. Admission is Free.
Rakel Dink will be in Australia as a guest of the Armenian Missionary Association of Australia, who will be raising funds to support the Hrant Dink School in Istanbul. A complete schedule of her program can be found below.
