The Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee of Australia (AGCC) have announced this year’s National Commemoration of the 107th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide as a livestream event, to be simulcast via Facebook and YouTube Tuesday 26th April at 8:00pm (AEST).
The one-hour broadcast, which has enjoyed the participation of thousands of Armenian-Australians over the past two years, will include a special program including statements from political representatives, a keynote feature, the latest update in advocacy efforts and a cultural performance.
It will be presented to the community through the YouTube channel of Australia Live by Armenia Media, as well as the Facebook pages of Armenia Media and all major Armenian-Australian organisations.
The Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee has promised special announcements over coming weeks, declaring details of the 2022 keynote feature, which will highlight the continuing genocidal policies suffered by Armenians at the hands of Azerbaijan and Turkey in Nagorno Karabakh.
“Over the past two years, a combined 30,000 people have tuned in to the virtual National Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide within 24 hours of the broadcast,” said the Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee's Hratch Loussikian.
“The new format has fast become a staple event in the Armenian-Australian community’s calendar, with families and friends gathering around their screens to memorialise the martyred souls of 1915,” Loussikian added.
